60 Years of Rugby at LGS
The Diamond Jubilee of rugby in the school was celebrated when 100 former 1st XV rugby players, including several of the first team that played Burton Grammar School in 1949, returned for luncheon followed by the 1st XV fixture against St Peter's School, York.

Much of the time was spent reminiscing - especially on the double-decker bus to the playing fields to watch the game.

For 38 of those years Mr C.L.Davies was involved in coaching and the Old Boys Association took the opportunity to present him with a signed ball and a cheque in appreciation of his contribution to the development of the game...from 1 team and 15 players in 1949 to 16 teams and 300 players now.
