Leeds Regional Event

Congratulations to our new Development Office at school on its latest venture!!  On Saturday afternoon, 25th April 2009, I had the pleasure of being driven up to Leeds where the Headmaster and the Headmistress met a mixed group of OLs and OGs at the Old School Board Room of Leeds Metropolitan University.

Ms Susie Bromwich (Development Director), aided by Mark Sampson, had made highly efficient arrangements for the evening reception of past pupils from the North-West of the country. Guests were in two groups, - one from the 40/50s and the majority from the year 2000 onwards - but they mixed well and enjoyed the drinks and excellent buffet, watched a video loop showing scenes of the Endowed Schools and continued lively conversations until we finally departed just after nine o'clock.

While I was speaking to the younger people, it became clear that they thought well of such local reunions but would also be happy to attend larger functions later which were aimed at pupils from years. They also agreed with the need to keep their fellow-members more aware of their own personal experiences , because that is the way in which our school history is brought to life and presents a permanent record of the passing years. So my message is to our members is:  do send in your items of information at any time, both for the annual magazine and also for immediate reading on the school internet.

Such events serve to underline the physical and moral support by the Development Officers to the OLA, and our committee is extremely grateful for their assistance and fresh impetus. This close cooperation points to an invigorating future.
