Revisiting LHS
History Revisited
Yesterday three friends and I were very privileged, and delighted, to be able to visit Loughborough High School. It is some forty odd years since I was a pupil, and a little longer for my friends, so it was indeed interesting to see how the school has developed in that time. "Same but different" is a phrase which springs to mind.........obviously different in that the school is very clearly in the modern world, with wonderful new buildings, facilities and ideas; but the same insofar as the character of the school was instantly recognisable. In my opinion, that is a winning mix. To walk down the corridor into the Hall, and to revisit the Cloisters and other significant areas was, for me, to be transported back in time several decades. It was just magical. I would like to say a big "thank you" to Miss O'Connor, the Headmistress and everyone who made us feel hugely welcome. Special thanks to your charming Head Girl, Jaz, who showed us round and who was both interesting in what she could tell us, and interested in what we remembered! We were all impressed by the atmosphere of calm around the school, the good manners displayed by the pupils we met, and a sense of being in a lovely learning environment. Small wonder that LHS has retained such a good reputation, both for academic achievement and for the roundedness of the pupils. Thank you all once again for yesterday. I hope, and am determined, that it will not be another forty years before the next visit!
Best wishes to all,
